Mason Gatner

 As the Semester comes to a close, I would like to thank everyone in the class for making the experience worthwhile. Thank you for being supportive of each other's work and making the environment so friendly and welcoming.  I think it brough out something good in me. I would like to include two of my pieces featuring my oc's Grimoire and Oneiro, respectively. The first one I did over the summer, and the second one I did about a week ago.  Assignment 7: A Line as a Relation to my Body For this assignment, we were supposed to make an art piece that could relate to our bodies in some way. The part of my body I decided to use as a subject for the art was my brain. I tried to capture the disorganized, chaotic nature of a mess of thoughts with a scribbling style of drawing and a mixture of crayon, highlighter, ballpoint pen, and mechanical pencil.  I wanted the art to have symbolism of imagination, grandeur, fear, and chaos. I wanted the viewer to have lots to see and to want to look at it. I also wanted to add some symbolism of how, even though someone may be sitting still and staying quiet, their minds will remain active. I added my own oc's in the piece. I call the little green guy in the corner "Grimoire" Sketchbook drawings: This page was mostly dedicated to doodles and sketches while I brainstormed for my final project.  Assignment 6: Part 2 (Animals) In the second part of the assignment, we were supposed to make 12 non human drawings in relation to our first 12 drawings. I chose animals that my first humans made me think of. The drawings are all in chronological order, like the first half of the assignment (left to right, up-down).  1. Great White Shark (Carcharodon carcharias) on the left as a representation of Ursula K. Le Guin. Not only are females bigger than males, with the largest preserved shark being a female at 5.83 meters and weighing an estimated 2000 kilograms, but like Le Guin never stopped writing, sharks on average never sleep and almost never stop moving. 2. Black Sheep, although not a species, is a rare physical development caused by a recessive gene in domestic sheep (Ovis aries) that results in a discoloration. The black sheep on the right is representative of Tim Burton, a black sheep in his own right. 3. The Barn Owl (Tyto alba) on the left is a species of purely nocturn...

 This is my informal archive. As an English student, I am expected to read at least once every day. Since this project is about drawing every day, I decided to combine the two subjects and draw a moment from some of the thing I've read. The books I've read from are the following: The Broadview Anthology for British Literature, The Marrow Thieves by Cherie Dimaline, Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison, Dracula by Bram Stoker, The Wastelands  by Stephen King, and The Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame.
