 Assignment 7: A Line as a Relation to my Body

For this assignment, we were supposed to make an art piece that could relate to our bodies in some way. The part of my body I decided to use as a subject for the art was my brain. I tried to capture the disorganized, chaotic nature of a mess of thoughts with a scribbling style of drawing and a mixture of crayon, highlighter, ballpoint pen, and mechanical pencil. 
I wanted the art to have symbolism of imagination, grandeur, fear, and chaos. I wanted the viewer to have lots to see and to want to look at it. I also wanted to add some symbolism of how, even though someone may be sitting still and staying quiet, their minds will remain active.
I added my own oc's in the piece. I call the little green guy in the corner "Grimoire"

This next page is where I got the original idea for how I wanted the drawing to look.

For this page, I pondered the idea of making a random drawing based on one of my original characters, but using drawing supplies taped to my hands. Ultimately, I decided not to go through with this.

  Assignment 1 Mason Gatner These are my drawings for my first assignment from Drawing Studio II class at the University of Lethbridge. The assignment was to make one drawing from observation, and another that was purely chance driven.      The first drawing (above) was an observational drawing, not copied from a photo or another drawing.  Assignment 2, Monday, October 7, 2024 Contour Drawings These past few weeks, we've been learning about contour line drawing, which focuses on lines rather than shading, texture, or lighting. These are the projects. 1. Blind Contours (drawing items without looking at the paper): The items I've elected to draw consist of, in order of appearance, a chair from the U of L library, a plant from the U of L library, my headphones, a fern clipping, a Rubik's cube, a recycling bin, a bottle of hand sanitizer, a combination lock, sunglasses, and my art kit. 2. Contour Line Drawing: The same items as above, with a small difference in order. 3. The Large Drawing (18"x24"). This art piece consists of drawings of the other subjects. Assignment 5: Scribble Line

 Assignment 5: Scribble Line Sketchbook Drawings: The first part of the assignment was to use scribbles to make drawings. I didn't understand the assignment well enough though, and ended up making contour drawings. I wish I did, cause then I could have drawn something cool, like a monster or an OC. The materials I used were pencil crayons (x2 colors), charcoal, ink pen, permanent marker, alcohol-based marker. This next aspect of the assignment was to study value and shading using scribbles. I can safely say, after learning more about what was expected from the assignment, I'm happier with the results here.
